FACHEX is an undergraduate tuition remission option for children of current full time faculty, administrators, and staff at participating Jesuit Colleges and Universities.
Ìý
The dependent of a current employee of ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ is considered an "outgoing student."
Through the FACHEX program, current employees who qualify for the tuition remission benefit for their children at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ (traditionally by completing at least five (5) years of continuous full-time service) can apply to receive the same benefit at a participating Jesuit University if their child meets that school's requirements for FACHEX applicants, and there is an award available. It is important to realize, however, thatÌýFACHEX awardsÌýare highly competitive in terms of both academic selectivity and availability.ÌýAs a result, there are NO guarantees to any faculty or staff member that their child will be awarded the FACHEX benefit at the institution of their choice.
Special Note:ÌýIf you are a current employee of ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ, and your child wishes to come to ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ, that process is covered through the standard Tuition Remission process, not FACHEX. Please view details on Tuition Remission in the ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ Employee Handbook.
ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ Employees Seeking The FACHEX Benefit For Their Child Who Is Applying For Fall 2025 First-Year Admission At A Participating Jesuit University:
- After September 1st, but before December 1st, the child of the parent employed at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ must register on the and list the schools he or she is applying to. Once the child has completed the registration process, the parent must complete theÌýFACHEX Certification FormÌýand return it to theÌýBenefits Office prior to December 1st. Once the parent's employment eligibility is verified, the Benefits Office will certify on the Tuition Exchange Database the student's eligibility for the FACHEX program benefit, should a school select them as a possible FACHEX recipient.
If the December 1st deadline is missed by your child or you, the Benefits Office will only process a late verification entry into the Tuition Exchange Database if you contact theÌýÌýat the receiving school FIRST to see if they will still accept it.Ìý Many Schools WILL NOT and it is your responsibility to find that information. ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØÌýwill not aid in this process and cannot take responsibility for an employee failing to meet the established deadlines of other schools in the program.
- Have your child apply for admission to the desired participating FACHEX school(s).ÌýYou or your child should also contact theÌý at the desired school(s)Ìýto see if there are any special admissions dates or requirements to follow.ÌýIt is not uncommon for an institution to require FACHEX applicants to either apply for Early Decision or Early Action admission, follow a Priority Scholarship Deadline, or toÌýmake completion of a specific field onÌýthe admission application mandatory for FACHEX applicants, so it is the responsibility of theÌýapplicant to follow those rules.Ìý The Benefits Office is not available to advise on the policies of other schools.
Once the Benefits Office has certified a child in the Tuition Exchange database, any communication regarding the FACHEX award will happen directly between the FACHEX Coordinator at the school(s) to which the child has applied and the child or child's family. ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØÌýwill not aid in this process.Ìý
- A FACHEX certification does not qualify your child for admission, nor does an offer of admission mean an automatic FACHEX award. A FACHEX determination will only be made by the participating institution AFTER a childÌýhas been accepted for admission - AND - the child has been certified as eligible to participate in the FACHEX program via the Tuition Exchange Database. Please remember most schools receive over 100 FACHEX applicants annually for only a few available FACHEX awards so the academic achievement of the child is often the largest determining factor.Ìý
- If a child is granted a FACHEX award at a participating institution, it will be automatically renewed on an annual basis provided the child continues to be a full-time attendee at the school that offered the FACHEX award and the parent maintains their employment and/or FACHEX eligibility at their home institution. Should a parent terminate their employment and/or subsequently fail to maintain FACHEX eligibility at their home institution, their child's FACHEX award will be terminated by the receiving institution. FACHEX eligibility status is checked annually by the receiving institution using the Tuition Exchange Database and only the home employing institution (which at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ is our Benefits Office) can re-certify your child as continuing to be FACHEX eligible, since FACHEX is tied to your employment benefit. Should a child lose FACHEX funding, the family would be encouraged to apply for Financial Aid at theÌýschool their child is attending. YouÌýmay contact theÌýBenefits OfficeÌýif you have any concerns about your ability to maintain your employment/FACHEX eligibility at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ.Ìý
- Special Circumstances:ÌýIf a new employee at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ has a child who is currently receiving the FACHEX tuition benefit due to the employee's prior employment at another Jesuit institution, ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ's Benefits Office will certify the employee's eligibility for the continuation of the FACHEX benefit, provided the employee had completed at least five (5) years of full-time service at the previous Jesuit school. This policy will apply only to a student receiving the FACHEX benefit at a Jesuit institution other than ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ.Ìý The new employee will be responsible for providing to theÌýBenefits OfficeÌýappropriate documentation of service from the prior Jesuit institution.
- FACHEX, if offered, only covers four (4) years of continuous full-time undergraduate study during the traditional fall and spring semesters.Ìý It is not available for part-time study or for individual course remuneration.
- A FACHEX award, if granted, only covers tuition. Any additional expenses incurred by the student such as room, board, fees, travel related expenses, or books, are the sole responsibility of the student and/or the student's family. It is strongly recommended all families apply for Financial Aid at their desired schools to help fund these needs.
- Although the FACHEX programs across all participating AJCU institutions utilize the Tuition Exchange database for FACHEX certifications, ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ does not participate in the Tuition Exchange program.Ìý ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ only participates in FACHEX.
