FACHEX is an undergraduate tuition remission option for children of current full-time faculty, administrators, and staff at participating Jesuit Colleges and Universities.
Ìý
The dependent of a current employee of a Jesuit college or university other than ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ is considered an "incoming student."
At ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ, we typically identify over 100 FACHEX eligible applicants annually for a handful of new FACHEX awards, which are offered to the most academically competitive applicants in that year's admissions pool.Ìý
The specific procedures are detailed below. Please keep in mind thatÌýɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ only considers incoming first-year applicants for new FACHEX awards. Transfer students and upperclassmen are not eligible. They should instead, contact the ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØÌýOffice of Student ServicesÌýto apply for Financial Aid.
First-Year Applicants For Fall 2025 Admission At ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ
- Prospective first-year applicants who wish for full consideration for aÌý FACHEX award at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ must apply by the Priority Scholarship Deadline of November 1st and make sure to list their parent's employer as a participating Jesuit University in the Parent Employer field on the Common Application. Applicants may choose to have their application reviewed under Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision consideration, so long as they have all of their admissions materials submitted by the Priority Scholarship Deadline of 11/1. While we may still consider those who apply after the November 1st Priority Scholarship Deadline, first consideration is given to those who meet our stated and published deadline. Please visit theÌýOffice of UndergraduateÌýAdmissionÌýpageÌýfor complete information about applying to ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ.
- Parents of FACHEX eligible students are required to have their child certified as FACHEX eligible in the Tuition Exchange Database by December 1st.ÌýÌýThis can ONLY be completed by the parent's employing home institution, and will be used by ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ to verify FACHEX eligibility if a student is selected as a possible finalist for a FACHEX award here. Failure to be certified as FACHEX eligible in the Tuition Exchange Database WILL result in a failure to be considered for a FACHEX award at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ. There are NO exceptions to this policy.
- Beginning in January, students who met the 11/1 Priority Scholarship Deadline, and whose admissions file lists a parent as being employed by a participating Jesuit University, will be reviewed for possible FACHEX consideration based on their academic competitiveness.Ìý On occasion, an applicant considered for FACHEX may be co-invited to participate in the academically selectiveÌýGabelli Presidential Scholars Program. (Students who qualify for this program are typically in the top 1% of ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ's pool of first-year applicants and are selected on an invitation-only basis from those who met the Priority Scholarship Deadline).
- By February, students selected as FACHEX Finalists will have their parent's FACHEX eligibility formally confirmed using the Tuition Exchange Database.ÌýÌýAs explained above, any student not certified as FACHEX eligible by their parent's employing home institution in the Tuition Exchange Database willÌýNOT be eligible for FACHEX consideration at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ.
- By April 1st, all FACHEX applicants to ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ, who were certified as eligible to participate in FACHEX via the Tuition Exchange Database, will be notified of their official FACHEX status here.ÌýFACHEX awards are not granted by the Office of Student Services. The ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ FACHEXÌýCoordinator will notify a student directly if FACHEX is awarded.
- It is strongly recommended that ALL prospective students apply for financial aid at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ.ÌýÌýSince FACHEX openings are extremely competitive in terms of availability and academic selectivity, a financial aid offer may make it possible to attend ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ if a FACHEX award is not extended. It is also important to remember that the cost of tuition is not the only cost to be met. If there is a complete financial aid application on file at the time of acceptance, a notice detailing the financial aid package will accompany the offer of admission. For more information on financial aid, contactÌýtheÌýOffice of Student Services.
- Openings rarely occur after the initial selections are made.ÌýA student not offered the benefit as an entering first-year student will not be offered the benefit at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ later.ÌýFor this reason,Ìýa waiting list is not maintained, nor is there an application process for upperclassmen.
- If a student is offered a FACHEX award at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ and enrolls, it will be renewed on an annual basis provided the student continues to attend full-time and the student’s parent maintains their respective employment and FACHEX eligibility at a participating Jesuit university. Should a parent terminate their employment and/or subsequently fail to maintain FACHEX eligibility at their home institution, the student’s FACHEX award will be terminated at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ.ÌýFACHEX eligibility status is re-checked annually by ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ using the Tuition Exchange Database, and only a parent's home employing institution can re-certify their child as FACHEX eligible, since FACHEX is tied to an employee benefit. Should a student lose FACHEX funding due to lack of maintaining FACHEX eligibility, their family would be encouraged to apply for Financial Aid.
- FACHEX recipients must enroll full-time and are expected to complete their undergraduate degree in four years.ÌýRecipients are not eligible for tuition remission for more than four years, or during the summer session.ÌýShould a recipient decide to interrupt his/her studies at ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ, theÌýɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ FACHEXÌýCoordinator should be notified before the end of the last funded semester, and reinstatement under FACHEX will depend upon the availability of funding at the time. It is not guaranteed.ÌýStudents who take advantage of aÌýɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ Study Abroad ProgramÌýduring the fall or spring semester will continue to receive FACHEX funding during the academic year.
- Because the FACHEX award is for full tuition, this benefit will supersede any other full or partial tuition remission award. Privately funded scholarships, i.e., those not awarded by the ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ Office of Student Services, will not reduce a FACHEX benefit.
- A FACHEX award, should it be granted, only covers tuition.Ìý Any additional expenses incurred by the student such as room, board, fees, travel related expenses, and books are the sole responsibility of the student and/or the student's family.
- Although the FACHEX program across all AJCU participating institutions utilize the Tuition Exchange Database for FACHEX certifications, ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ does not participate in the Tuition Exchange program.Ìý We only offer FACHEX.
