SI-GECS Grant Recipients
The Schiller Institute Grants for Exploratory Collaborative Scholarship (SI-GECS) program, first awarded in 2022, supports interdisciplinary research and creative activities in the Institute鈥檚 core focus areas: energy, the natural environment, and health. For FY25, the Schiller Institute awarded 7 grants to faculty members across campus. Type 1 Grantees are awarded $15K and Type 2 Grantees receive $50K.
SI-GECS FY25
During the 2024-25 academic year, the Schiller Institute awarded 7 projects totaling over $260K. Projects addressed energy-efficient technologies, care for adults over 65, the implications of AI on health and infrastructure, and more.
SI-GECS FY22
In the SI-GECS program鈥檚 inaugural year, the Schiller Institute awarded 15 projects totaling over $400K. Projects addressed textile pollution, communication, the health and wellbeing of children, older adults and communities of color, and more.
SI-GECS FY24
During the 2023-24 academic year, the Schiller Institute awarded 5 projects totaling over $200K. Projects addressed science communication, migration, aerosols in the atmosphere, wind energy, and pollution.
SI-GECS FY23
During the 2022-23 academic year, the Schiller Institute awarded 12 projects totaling over $415K. Projects addressed electrochemical processes, refugee and transgender mental health, multiple assessments of physiological health, and more.
