Diplomas are distributed to graduates following the University's main ceremony. The diploma ceremonies typically last for about two hours. ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ does not distribute tickets so you can invite all your loved ones to join in the celebration although the University does ask you to register your guests (in early April) so that they can plan for seating.
The Equity, Justice, and Inclusion Lecture is one in a series of events offered each year by the School of Social Work. Following the lecture, the school honors the recipients of that year's Distinguished Alumni Awards, which recognize ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØSSW MSW or PhD alumni who have made significant contributions to the social work profession.
This series has featured doctors, anthropologists, and journalists who have reflected on topics like poverty, racism, and same-sex marriage. The lecture honors Elaine Pinderhughes, a professor emerita of ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØSSW, whose seminal research revealed that race, ethnicity, and power strongly influence how social workers interact with clients.
Held every spring, the Mary Mason Field Supervisor Appreciation Breakfast honors field supervisors for their ongoing work with students while commemorating their contributions to the ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØSSW community. As part of the annual celebration, pairs of students and supervisors reflect on the strong bonds that they’ve built with each other over the past year.
ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØSSW hosts annual retreats for incoming students, fellows of the Black Leadership Initiative, and members of the award-winning Latinx Leadership Initiative. At these off-campus, weekend-long summits, students participate in organized activities aimed at getting to know each other, identifying future goals, and reflecting on their shared desire to serve people in need.Â
ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØSSW’s Career Services Office will help you chart your path to career success from the day you arrive on campus. Tap into a huge jobs database, connect with potential employers, polish your resume, participate in mock interviews, attend recruitment fairs, and more—all with the guidance of a dedicated staff committed to your lifelong professional development.

BLI & LLI Initiatives
The Black Leadership Initiative and Latinx Leadership Initiative encourage students to develop a more nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by specific populations to move closer to solutions.
Field Education
Social work education is intentional in its integration of classroom instruction with experiential learning. Students gain real-world experience through a field practicum with an organization that complements their goals and passions.
