The Sue L. Nguyen (M.A. ’73) Fund for Graduate Student Professional Formation

The Sue L. Nguyen (M.A. ’73) Fund for Graduate Student Professional Formation makes possible small subventions to currently enrolled M.A. students in the department who will be presenting papers at scholarly conferences and who need assistance in meeting the expense of registration or travel. The prize was established in 2021 by the family of the late Sue Nguyen in her memory and in recognition of her appreciation for the value of graduate education in Romance Languages and Literatures.

Ms. Nguyen was a dedicated guidance counselor in the Houston Independent School district for more than twenty years. After her death, the Houston Area Women's Center named their Children's Enrichment Center in her honor.

Please note: this RLL fund supplements the subventions available to all graduate students from the ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ Graduate School of Arts and Sciences that will cover registration fees (up to $150) or travel expense (up to $350) for conference participation. For more information about the latter, see the RLL Graduate Program Director.
