Profile

Scott T. Cummings is Professor of Playwriting and Dramatic Literature in the Theatre Department of ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ, where he served as Chair from 2010 to 2014. His directing work for ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ includes seven different programs of fully produced original one-acts by ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ student playwrights, an original devised work called Ashley's Purpose, and plays by Shakespeare, Marivaux, Beckett, Fornés, and Mee. He is the author or editor of four books on contemporary American playwrights and directors, the most recent of which is The Theatre of Les Waters: More Like the WeatherÌý (Routledge, 2022). An active arts journalist and theatre critic, his features and reviews have appeared in American Theatre, the Boston Phoenix, the Boston Globe, and other publications.
