Join us as we welcome Liz Cheney, former U.S. representative to ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ.
Established in 2015, the CWɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ Colloquium hosts exceptional thought leaders to consider contemporary issues through the lens of women’s leadership. The Colloquium is made possible by the Council for Women of ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ and the Institute for the Liberal Arts.
This event is free and open to the public. Seating is first come first serve. Doors open at 5pm.ÌýOnly small purses and handbags are permitted; no large bags, including tote bags and backpacks, are allowed.
In case the room reaches full capacity, there will be a viewing room in Walsh Hall Function Room.

Liz Cheney
Liz Cheney served as the U.S. representative for Wyoming’s at-large congressional district from 2017 to 2023. She chaired the HouseÌýRepublicanÌýConference, the third-highest position in the House RepublicanÌýleadership, from 2019 to 2021, and served as the Vice Chair of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol. She was also a member of the House Armed Services Committee, China Task Force, Natural Resources Committee, and the House Committee on Rules. Cheney served previously at the State Department as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and in positions for USAID and the Department of State working in Poland, Hungary, Russia, and Ukraine.

Odette Lienau joined ɬÀï·¬ÏÂÔØ Law School in January 2023 as the inaugural Marianne D. Short, Esq., Dean. She previously served as a professor of law and former associate dean for faculty research and intellectual life at Cornell University Law School. Her research and teaching interests center around international economic law, international law and international relations, and political and legal theory.
As associate dean at Cornell, Dean Lienau focused on raising the scholarly profile of the faculty, launching new research workshops and an annual report highlighting faculty scholarly activity, among other initiatives. As chair of the Academic Programs & Planning Committee (2020–2021), she spearheaded development of a new concentration in Law, Inequity, and Structural Exclusion. As chair of the Upper-Level Curriculum & Transition Committee during the COVID-19 pandemic, she facilitated effective hybrid and remote learning. Dean Lienau also worked closely with school leadership on rankings and reputation initiatives, remote work policies and procedures, academic certification, global exchanges, and developing online programming.
Dean Lienau practiced with the Financial Restructuring and Insolvency group at Shearman & Sterling in New York City prior to joining Cornell Law School and has taught at Harvard and Yale Law Schools.
