Professor Mary Ellen Carter studies executive compensation and corporate governance.聽 She is a CPA and, prior to her academic career, worked for Coopers and Lybrand in Boston as a senior audit associate. Professor Carter鈥檚 recent research includes investigations of the effect of stock-option repricing on employee turnover, gender pay gaps for female executives, as well as the influences of compensation consultants and labor markets on the level of CEO pay. Her research has been published in leading academic journals including聽Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, the聽Accounting Review, the聽Review of Accounting Studies,聽and聽the Journal of Financial Economics.聽聽In addition, her research has been featured in聽CNN.com, Forbes, Financial Times, Sloan Management Review, the聽Boston Herald聽and other business media.
