涩里番下载 will not hold an in-person Commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020 on campus in October, Vice President for Student Affairs Joy Moore wrote in a letter to the class today.
The ceremony in celebration of the class, whose Commencement in May was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was tentatively scheduled for the weekend of October 9-11. While 涩里番下载 experienced a smooth two weeks of pre-opening COVID-19 testing for faculty, staff, and students and began holding classes this week, administrators remain committed to adhering to CDC safety protocols and state and local guidelines.
"While we had hoped to host a series of events for you on campus, the reality is that due to COVID-19 the City of Boston has postponed or cancelled all large public events and gatherings through the end of the year, including such signature events as the Boston Marathon. Given these factors, and the concern we have for everyone鈥檚 health and safety, we will not be able to host an in-person Commencement in October," Moore wrote.
"We realize this is disappointing news, as it is the second time we have had to cancel events that were intended to honor your achievements," she added.
The University remains intent on celebrating the Class of 2020 and its achievements, Moore wrote, noting that discussions are now under way with the Alumni Association about hosting a first year reunion in June of 2021. Details will be announced at a future date.
